The Renaud Society, a society of medical professionals with an interest in better health and a passion for wine, in partnership with the Desert Heart Foundation, a 501 C(3) nonprofit medical research and education foundation, proudly announce the 3rdRenaud Society Wine Competition for the coveted Renaud Tastevin, in the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
The previous two Renaud Society Wine Competitions were held in Walla Walla, WA, and Napa, CA and awarded the coveted Renaud Tastevin to Skylite Cellars two years in a row, for their 2006 Reserve and 2007 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. The beautiful gold tastevins, mounted on a crystal testimonial, is proudly displayed in their tasting room in Walla Walla, Washington. Many excellent wines were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals in a blinded judging by food and wine professionals, society commandeurs, and some of our research scientists. The Renaud Tastevin is a special honor bestowed on the highest scoring gold medal winner, and recognized as “best-in-show”.

As you know, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death and disability in women and men in our society. This competition specifically supports improved cardiovascular health through the foundations’ educational programs and research. The Desert Heart Foundation has hosted the 1st through 5th bi-annual International Wine and Health Summit both in Napa and Washington State, will bring its 6thInternational Wine & Heart Health Summit to the Willamette Valley November 2 – 5, 2011. This important event promotes an open forum for scientific discussion specific to wine and health among key researchers in the international community.
